Some of the small, but wonderful, things in life...
Ah, the TAKS test. What a bundle of joy....it is NOT. But, I can't say that I disagree that there should be a minimum standard set. I'm praying for all the kiddos and teachers involved in taking/administering the test this week. I have seen how stressful it is for many of them.
So, I got a fabulous phone call this morning...a wake me up phone call...from my younger brother as he was waiting around at the Salt Lake City airport to board his plane to Canada (Montreal) where he will be serving as a missionary for our church. It was so good to talk to him for just a few minutes!!! By now I believe he is in Canada, settling in. I know he'll be a wonderful missionary. I think we've always had a special bond...we're a lot alike in some ways. We've become especially good friends in the past few years. We just have a mutual understanding of each other. It's great. I'm so proud of my brother. He's been growing into such a wonderful young man! Kind, caring, goofy, easy-going. And, of course, most recently, as I watched him develop a testimony of God and saw him grow in his desire to serve as a missionary, I felt a swelling in my heart for him. He's an example to me, especially as I've been struggling so much lately. It's like we're on complete opposite sides of the spectrum right now, but he is a light and example to me. I'm so proud to be his sister and friend. :)
Well, my apartment will get a look through again tomorrow afternoon some time. At least we already cleaned up for last time, so we'll just need to vacuum again and I need to change the kitty litter boxes. But I splurged a little and bought my favorite plug-in scents to replace in my bedroom plug-ins (Airwick's Vanilla Passion). Mmmm, yummy!
So, I am attempting to start a book club with some of my friends here in my town...we shall see how it goes, but I'm already having fun! *snicker* Until next time....~Nefilinda :)
